{FAQs}

If you have additional questions beyond what you see here, let's talk and get our own conversation going.

Can the sessions happen in our home?

Absolutely! One of my biggest goals is to create a friendly environment in which your child feels safe and comfortable. Often, the very best place to find that comfortable space is where you've already created it for them, in your home.

Do you ever do group sessions?

I have done group therapy before in both the school setting and the home setting, however, most of my sessions are one-on-one for optimal success.

Do I, as a parent, participate in the sessions?

Parent participation in your child’s speech therapy is very important!  I encourage you to be apart of each session, which will help you be able to follow through with home program ideas.  Your involvement and the more practice your child has equals progress!  I realize that there are many circumstances that may not allow you to be apart of every session for the entire session.  I understand that life is busy, so I strive to keep the lines of communication open with parents, so that we are all on the same page with goals, progress, and home practice.

Do you teach me ways to practice with my child?

Absolutely. I have downloadable resources and links to additional resources for you to access. In addition to those found on my website, I'll give a set of skills to practice with your child on a weekly basis. No need to overwhelm you with everything you're child will learn, I'll teach you on a week-to-week basis so that you are learning just what your child needs to know and focus on for that week.

How quickly will I notice results from the lessons?

The speed of acquisition of the language skills varies widely from child to child depending on the issues being addressed. What I can promise is that you will see results. Whether they come slow and steady or in leaps and bounds, your child will improve.

How often will my child have sessions?

I meet with most of my clients on a weekly basis, however, some children require more frequency and others less. The frequency is something I will make recommendations on after an evaluation is performed.

What is a common length of time a child has these lessons?

I'll answer this question in two ways. First, each session typically lasts 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. Secondly, it is quite common to have your child in speech and language therapy for several months at a time.  Duration of the sessions depends entirely on what issues are being addressed, and we can stay in constant communication with your child’s progress.
